VANCOUVER — An official at Simon Fraser University says the RCMP are investigating after three allegations of sexual assault were made by female students against a male student.

Vice-president of academic and provost Jon Driver says the university’s priority is to protect the safety and privacy of students and his ability to discuss specifics is limited.

The Vancouver-area university is the latest to grapple with alleged sexual assaults involving students, after the University of B.C. and University of Victoria faced accusations they had mishandled reports of attacks.

Driver says in a statement that as soon as university personnel became aware of the allegations, it took action to support the students concerned without interfering with the police investigation.
