KAMLOOPS — The Keg Restaurants says its decision to close its Kamloops location was a difficult one.

But, in a news release, the company says it’s Kamloops franchise owners don’t want to be in the restaurant business anymore.

“We are deeply appreciative of the patronage of our incredible guests at the Kamloops location and we hope to see them one last time before we close,” says Jamie Henderson, Vice President of Business Development at The Keg in a press release . “We especially want to recognize and thank our incredible employees who have helped us create so many special memories over the years for our Kamloops guests.”

The restaurant, located in the historic CN rail station on Lorne Street, will close its doors at the end of August.

About 60 full and part time employees will lose their jobs.

The Culos Development Group has owned the restaurant for the past 13 years, and purchased the building from the City of Kamloops for one dollar in 2013.

In a statement, Fred Marin of the Culos Group says the company looks forward to an alternate use for the building in keeping with its historic status.
