KAMLOOPS — A man has died after a serious motorcycle crash that occurred last night, June 7.

It happened around 5:40 p.m., on the Coquihalla highway south of the Inks Lake Interchange.

A 61-year-old man lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and crashed in the centre median. He was ejected from the bike.

The man was traveling with two other motorcyclists and family members in a pickup truck.

RCMP and B.C. Ambulance responded.

The man was taken by air ambulance to Royal Inland Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He did not survive.

Sgt. Mike Pears of Central Interior Traffic Services said it is not yet clear what caused the crash.

“It appears that he may have tried to ride through the median to come out,” Pears said, “unfortunately, he wasn’t successful in that, and the bike went down, and of course he (was) ejected from the bike. Very tragic, he’s died as a result of his injuries.”

Weather and road conditions were considered good at the time of the crash.
