In October Reinbrecht was found guilty of criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm for killing Ken Brown and injuring eight others.

Today, one of Brown’s sisters read an impact statement, saying the lengthy court proceedings have left the family both frustrated and exhausted.

She also says Shuswap Lake is no longer a place of enjoyment.

It was there that Ken Brown was killed when Reinbrecht drove a speedboat into a houseboat Brown was operating in July 2010.

Crown Prosecutor Neil Flanagan has submitted a range of year in prison for the sentencing of Reinbrecht.

He suggests two and a half  to three and a half years would be appropriate, as well as an order prohibiting Reinbrecht from operating a vessel for a period of five years.

Defense lawyer, Joe Doyle suggests a period of 2 years in a federal penitentiary, and an additional probational term.

Either way, Reinbrecht will be sentenced to jail time. How much jail time will be determined by Justice Sheri Donegan, who has reserved her decision for tomorrow, June 2, at 2 p.m.
