VERNON — A 32-year-old Vernon man, known to free climb, fell to his death and police say his body was discovered by members of the public who were out for an afternoon stroll on Saturday.

Cpl. Spencer Hornoi says the man’s body was found at the base of a steep cliff on Turtle Mountain.

Hornoi says the man was found in a ditch at the base of a short bridge on Grey Canal Trail near Turtle Mountain Boulevard.

RCMP were called about the deceased man’s body being found around 4:20 p.m. but Hornoi says police don’t know what time the man would have fallen or how long he was in the ditch for.
