Trio arrested after ignoring polite police warning

CLEARWATER, B.C. — An ignored warning to slow down has led to a long list of charges for a trio of Kelowna-area men.

The men were travelling in a pair of vehicles near Little Fort Wednesday when they approached an patrolling officer from the rear.

The officer flashed his lights to warn the drivers to slow down, but instead, they sped up.

RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says the officer eventually caught up with the three men sitting behind their cars, parked at the side of a forest service road.

“When they saw the police vehicle approach, the suspects jumped back into the vehicle(s), they tried to drive away, but unfortunately they were stuck in the mud at that time. The three then just simply bailed out of the vehicle and headed for the woods leaving the vehicles running, in gear, with the wheels spinning,”

When officers found guns in one of the vehicles, they initiated an intensive search, and caught up with the suspects a few hours later.

They each face a list of charges ranging from flight from police to possession of a stolen firearm.

Moskaluk says the three men probably could have avoided this trouble by simply heeding the officer’s initial warning.
