KAMLOOPS — The 40th anniversary of the Kamloops Symphony, will see the appointment of a new Music Director.

After 27 years serving as Music Director, Bruce Dunn is retiring. Dunn has been involved in orchestral performances for 52 years, and was instrumental in developing the Kamloops Symphony Music School, in 2002. A replacement for Dunn has been narrowed down to 4 candidates, all of whom will come to Kamloops as a guest conductor, for one concert during the 2016 – 2017 season.

“There’s one in the fall and three in the spring, and everyone is always interested to see what other conductors do and how they speak to the audience, and the orchestra likes to know how they work with the orchestra, so it’s an interesting season from that point of view, and that effects the music as well, because the choices of programs have to be more or less equal and even for the candidates,” says Bruce Dunn, Outgoing Music Director, KSO.
