People pay respects for workplace deaths
KAMLOOPS — Family and friends of loved ones lost due to workplace tragedy came together on Wednesday evening to remember and call for more effective safety practices.
St. Andrews on the Square filled up with people coming to pay their respects for the 122 people who died in B.C. in 2015 due to work-related accidents, including three in the Thompson-Nicola region.
Wednesday’s special guest speaker from WorkSafe BC was Mark Johnson, who was involved in a mill accident in September 2006 that’s left him with no use of left arm. Johnson speaks around the province, hoping to prevent another young person from experiencing the same danger at work.
