Gropp scores, T-Birds eliminate Rockets in dramatic fashion

KAMLOOPS —  It was a wild finish in Seattle where the Thunderbirds eliminated the defending Western Hockey League champion Kelowna Rockets.

Trailing by two the Thunderbirds scored with a minute and fifteen seconds left and then with three seconds left to tie it.

It went to double overtime where rookie Matthew Wedman scored to give Seattle a 5-4 win and a series sweep.

Kamloops’ Ryan Gropp scored the first Seattle goal and then set up Wedman for the overtime winner.
