VERNON — Vernon RCMP are investigating  reports of shots being fired overnight at a residence on Pottery Road.

A police roadblock was established early this morning near Hillview Elementary School as the investigation continued.

Around 1:30 a.m. the RCMP received a call about shots fired at the home as Cpl. Dan Moskaluk explains.

"The scene examination did confirm that the house was struck by bullets in the plural. There was a family home at the time of the incident, three children and two adults that were home however no one was injured."

Moskaluk says investigators still don't know a motive and can't say if it was gang or drug related.

"We've had no indications to show that we are having random drive by shootings in other incidents so at the time being it is difficult to say why this specific house was targeted but again at this time there doesn't appear to be continued public safety issues or concerns."

"We're interviewing the occupants of the residence and there are neighbourhood enquiries that are taking place throughout the day in the area today so maybe in speaking with the neighbours we'll be able to glean some information about what's been happening at that residence and why that home would have been targeted."

Police continue to try to determine the motive.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Vernon RCMP.
