Work already underway to tear down McDonald Park pool

KAMLOOPS — Not 24 hours after Kamloops council affirmed its decision to close the McDonald Park pool, work has already begun to demolish it.

Nearby residents have reported excavators were on scene first thing this morning, tearing up the pool structure.

According to a City of Kamloops news release, “filling and leveling the pool as soon as possible is required to mitigate liability issues.”

The city has also contracted security to guard the site 24 hours per day.

Council has approved a plan that will replace the pool with a wading pool and spray park.
