KAMLOOPS — Do you, or someone you care for suffer from a chronic medical condition, which affects your daily life? If so, you may qualify for a Disability Tax Credit – on April 7th, there’s an informational session being held for those who may qualify, to find out how they can access some of the funds available to them.

Judy Basso cared for her aging mother for several years – during that time, she wasn’t aware there were federal tax credits available to her, until she spoke with a financial professional. “I found out I was entitled to about $15,000 worth of credits,” Basso told CFJC Today, in an interview this morning.

Aaron Morgan is helping host the event, which takes place on Thursday night at the Double Tree. He says there are resources out there for people living with disabilities, but people need help accessing those resources. “[There are] substantial government grants, and bonds, that can accumulate over time, as well as tax savings,” said Morgan.

Basso says the process was as simple as answering some questions, to find out if she and her mother qualified for the tax credit program.

“A lot of people don’t even realize they qualify for these credits,” said Basso. “ Not only did I qualify for a rebate, but I qualified for future tax credits, as well, as long as I was caring for my mother.”

If you’re interested in finding out more about the Disability Tax Credit Program, the information session is being held at the Double Tree by Hilton at 7pm on Thursday, April 7th.
