KAMLOOPS — Cheers of “warm up the bus” were heard from fans at the Sandman Centre late in game six; that’s exactly what the Blazers can do after a 4-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets to force a seventh game of the team’s first round series.

The line of Gage Quinney, Matt Revel and Collin Shirley led the way offensively for the Blazers, who outshot the Rockets 33-26 on the night. The trio combined for six points on the night, and have now picked up 23 total points in six playoff games.

Quinney scored the first two Blazers goals on the night, both coming on the man-advantage. His first period tally at 7:55 ended an 0-15 streak of Kamloops going goalless on the powerplay. Quinney would double the lead against his former team at 4:20 of the second frame.

Shirley added to the Blazers lead just under five minutes later, scoring his fifth of the series at 9:11 of the second. Garrett Pilon scored the fourth Blazer goal for good measure at 12:21 of the third.

“We knew that if we lost that there was no more hockey season, so we played a bit more desperate than what we should’ve been playing,” Quinney said, who’s one of three 20-year-olds on the team in the middle of their last WHL playoff run.

Ingram made a number of solid saves of his 26 on the night, en route to his first WHL playoff shutout. The biggest may have been a goal line paddle save on Cal Foote, who had a wide open net when the game was 1-0 before Ingram sprawled to make an exceptional stop.

The Blazers and Rockets have alternated wins and losses all series following Saturday night’s result. The two teams will square off in a seventh and deciding game at Prospera Place on Monday night. Puck drop is at 7:05pm.
