Alcohol suspected in fatal Coquihalla crash

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP confirm one person has been killed this morning after a single vehicle accident on the Coquihalla Highway near Inks Lake.

At 6:28 this morning, Kamloops RCMP, Central Interior Traffic Services, BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire rescue responded to the vehicle accident 27 km south of Kamloops.

Staff Sergeant Ed Preto says the vehicle was heading to Kamloops when it lost control, crossed the southbound lanes and went down an embankment.

The driver was transported to Royal Inland Hospital with injuries, but the passenger was killed.
