Boy robbed of his bike at gunpoint in Williams Lake

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Police in Williams Lake looking for a couple of suspects who reportedly robbed a 14-year old boy of his BMX bike at the Boitanio Skate Park.

It happened while the boy was celebrating his 14th birthday. The incident happened Monday afternoon just before 5:00 PM.

Police say an officer was approached by a frantic youth who said his friend had been robbed of his bike.

Police weren’t able to locate any suspects when they converged on the skate park, but are looking for two indigenous males, one of whom is alleged to have used a silver handgun to commit the robbery.

RCMP Corporal Dave Tyreman says from what they’ve been able to determine so far, there was a group of six males at the park.

Three of them left the group to approach the victim, and at that point, one of them is alleged to have pulled the gun, pointing it at the victim.

The first suspect is described as an indigenous male about 5’9″ tall, wearing a camouflage hoodie. The other suspect, to whom the victim gave the bike, was also an indigenous male wearing a black and grey sweater.  Police are asking anyone who knows anything about the robbery to contact them or Crimestoppers. The bike is described as a red and black MacNeil BMX-style bike.
