KAMLOOPS — The parent company of Canadian Freightways confirms its Kamloops location will be closing, effective February 12.

Canadian Freightways, located at 1120 McGill Road in Kamloops is a nation wide transport delivery company.

Bob McGonigal is the Executive Vice President of Transforce the parent company of Canadian Freightways.

He says the price of oil has hit freight movement hard.

“Unfortunately due to the economic conditions in Western Canada we are experiencing, along with a constricting ‘less-than-truckload’ network as an industry, we’ve experienced much lower volume into this region which has led us to make this very difficult decision,” said McGonigal.

Canadian Freightways has been in Kamloops since the 1980s and employs five staff members.

McGonigal says this location is the only one closing at this time because it’s the location with the least amount of volume.
