City seeks stolen bike repair station

KAMLOOPS — Bicycle thefts are commonplace in nearly every Canadian city, but thieves in Kamloops took it a step further.

The City of Kamloops says one of its bicycle repair stations at McArthur Island Park was ripped from a concrete pad and stolen this week.

Sustainability Services Supervisor Glen Cheetham says there wouldn’t be a lot of value to the thief.

“Although they did go to some trouble, it’s permanently bolted to the concrete pad, and it appears there was perhaps a grinder or some kind of tool used to remove it, so it seems someone worked hard to get it,” said Cheetham.
