VANCOUVER — The B.C. Nurses Union says the provincial government must do a better job at providing mental-health services.

A release issued by the union says there are not enough programs to meet the growing demand across the province.

The union calls on Premier Christy Clark and Health Minister Terry Lake to make mental-health care a priority.

BCNU Vice President Christine Sorensen says one in five people will experience mental illness but she says patients and their families lack support.
