Corporal Cheryl Bush says they responded to the nightclub in the early morning hours of Tuesday January 19.

“Through our investigation we determined the death was not suspicious in nature and we have turned the investigation over to the Coroners office,” says Cpl Bush.

The Coroners Service will conduct a toxicology report to confirm the cause of death.

However unconfirmed reports in the community say the first nations woman died of a overdose.

The Executive Director of the Phoenix Centre in Kamloops says the community is left in mourning over her death.

Sian Lewis says, “so many people are touched by this. Family, friends, others that know this person or have worked with her. It’s heartbreaking and it’s weighing heavy on the community.”

In a recent Coroners report on overdose deaths, the Southern Interior region had an additional 13 cases in 2015 compared to 2014.

Lewis says there is growing concern of Fentanyl laced drugs within the community.
