KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has some encouraging news for Kamloops residents planning to travel on Interior highways before Christmas.

Forecaster Lisa Coldwells says if you’re heading south to the Lower Mainland, the only time of significant danger is tonight.

“Particularly the Hope-to-Merritt section of the Coquihalla may be a bit more snowy,” said Coldwells. “I’m thinking maybe about five to eight centimetres across that region. So perhaps tonight isn’t the best time to go.”

But Coldwells says after that system passes, it should be clear driving.
