A Walmart loss prevention officer is recovering today after he was stabbed while doing his job.

Corporal Cheryl Bush says Kamloops RCMP were called to the Kamloops Walmart in the early evening.

“It was just after 5:30 p.m. when a loss prevention officer attempted to apprehend a male who left the store without paying for merchandise,” said Bush. “The male suspect then stabbed the loss prevention officer and fled on foot.”

A 19-year-old man was tracked down and arrested a short distance away from the store.
