Year Round Farmers Market Proposed

A year-round public market could soon become a reality for Kamloops farmers after a feasibility study is conducted.

The Kamloops Regional Farmers Market Society and Community Futures Thompson Country are spending $55,000 to determine whether a 12-month market would be sustainable in the city.

The idea is to encourage people to eat locally all year-round instead of heading to the grocery store to purchase out of season vegetables and fruits.

The study will run through the Fall and Winter months and final recommendations will be made in march at a public open house.
