Martin Freeman, 52, expressed his disappointment at the criticism directed towards the age gap in his new film Miller’s Girl with Jenna Ortega, 21. He defended the movie, emphasizing its “grown up and nuanced” approach to a sensitive topic and likened the controversy to questioning Schindler’s List: “Are we gonna have a go at Liam Neeson for being in a film about the Holocaust?”

The film’s intimacy coordinator, Kristina Arjona, has also defended the production process and the film’s sex scene, stating that Ortega was actively involved and “was very determined and very sure of what she wanted to do.” This project marks a departure for Ortega, who is best known for her work Wednesday, and in the Scream franchise, while Freeman is known for Sherlock and The Hobbit.
