At least 49 dead in one of deadliest strikes since Gaza war began
DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza (AP) — Palestinian health officials say at least 49 people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza.
It’s one of the deadliest strikes since Israel declared war against Gaza’s Hamas rulers following a deadly cross-border attack by the Islamic militant group.
The strike took place Sunday night in the Maghazi refugee camp, east of Deir al-Balah.
The Al-Jazeera satellite channel broadcast footage of frantic Palestinian civilians and emergency workers picking through several gutted buildings.
