I was so excited that tonight was the night I was able to interview Sierra Noble – singer/songwriter, fiddling virtuoso, advocate for the marginalized and all around great person.

So you can imagine how crushed I was when I went to catch my flight home from a US speaking engagement and found it cancelled. Not postponed, cancelled. With no hope of getting home before the interview, I went into speedy gear trying to figure out how to ensure the show would go on live at 8 p.m. that night.

Enter The Contact Hitter and buddy extraordinaire, John Hindle, one quick call to him and he swoops in to save the day (or the show, at least!). Even though he had never done the show before, even though it was only hours away, he said yes – right on!

Now it probably didn’t hurt that he is one of Sierra’s biggest fans and he knew interviewing her would be a simple pleasure. As I listened to the show online, I was dying to be in that studio. They did a great job together and as I am always trying to pick up some life lessons in every situation, here are the ones I came up with today:

life goes on whether we are present or not – while I would have loved to be in the studio, the entire world does not revolve around me and people can do just fine without me – ouch!
have a Plan B – giving John a head’s up that I was flying on the same day as the radio show and asking him to be on standby should there be a glitch would have been a good idea,

Now, back to Sierra. This 22 year old powerhouse can teach many of us, double or triple her age, a thing or two about life. She is a great example of passion in action and is the personification of persistence. Her relentless pursuit to use her voice and music to make the world a better place, her dedication to family (especially her Mom, Sherry) and the community and her common sense view on continually growing herself strong makes her story worth listening to and learning from. You can hear the interview with John and Sierra here …http://www.cjob.com/Shows/Episodes.aspx?PID=2553.

Take a listen to the hit that changed everything for her and then pop over to her website, too; http://www.sierranoble.ca/fr_home.cfm.

Best, Steph
