Merritt man killed in Okanagan Connector crash

MERRITT, B.C. — A 32-year-old Merritt man was killed in Thursday’s crash that closed the Okanagan Connector in both directions for a number of hours, according to the RCMP
Police say an investigation revealed that a westbound car lost control and spun into oncoming traffic causing an impact with an eastbound truck near Pot Hole Creek Bridge, about 35 kilometres east of Merritt.
As well as police, members of the Merritt Fire Department, BC Ambulance Service, BC Conservation Officer Service, the RCMP Central Interior Traffic Services Unit and local tow companies attended the scene.
“A 32-year-old male resident of Merritt was pronounced deceased at the scene after medical professionals witnessed the impact and attempted to provide medical assistance immediately after the incident,” said Staff Sgt.Lorne Wood of the Merritt RCMP. “The driver of the other vehicle was assessed and provided support.”
