Nino Niederreiter scores first two goals with Hurricanes in 7-4 win over Oilers
EDMONTON — It didn’t take long for Nino Niederreiter to fit in with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Niederreiter and Lucas Wallmark each had a pair of goals and Andrei Svechnikov had a goal and two assists as the Hurricanes scored early and cruised to a 7-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.
“It’s always nice if you get a chance to score a goal, but more importantly we got the win we needed,” said Niederreiter, who was acquired in a trade on Friday from the Minnesota Wild and played in his 500th career NHL game on the night.
“The last home game, we definitely didn’t play the way we wanted, so it’s a big win for us tonight.”
