The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed Canadian safety Mike Daly on Wednesday.

The native of Kitchener, Ont., was scheduled to become a free agent next month.

Daly, 28, appeared in all of Hamilton’s 18 regular-season games last year, starting 17. He registered a career-high 53 tackles with three interceptions in 2018, returning a pick 58 yards for his first-ever touchdown.

Daly also started both of Hamilton’s playoff games and was the team’s nominee for the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award which recognizes players’ strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contribution to Canadian communities.

Daly has appeared in 69 career games over five seasons with Hamilton. The six-foot-one, 189-pound defensive back has 77 tackles, 31 special-teams tackles, seven interceptions, one sack and a forced fumble.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers also re-signed Canadian linebacker Thomas Miles to a one-year extension. He was also scheduled to become a free agent next month.

Miles, a Winnipeg native, enters his third season with the Bombers. He joined his hometown team as a free agent in 2017 and since then has recorded 26 special-teams tackle and nine tackles in 36 games.

Miles began his CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts in 2014. Overall, he has recorded 67 tackles, 42 special-teams tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 76 career games.

The Bombers also signed quarterback Bryan Schor and receiver Garrett Johnson, both Americans entering their first seasons in the CFL.

The Grey Cup-champion Calgary Stampeders signed Canadian offensive lineman Shane Bergman to a two-year deal. The six-foot-seven, 345-pound native of Teeterville, Ont., was scheduled to hit free agency next month.

Bergman, a six-year veteran, started all 18 games at left guard last season for Calgary, which finished tied for the fewest sacks allowed (27). He also started in the West Division final and the Stampeders’ 27-16 Grey Cup win over Ottawa.

“With his reliability and high level of play, Shane has been one of the cornerstones of our offensive line for the past few years,” Calgary president/GM John Hufnagel said in a statement. “I’m pleased that he has made a commitment to the club for two more seasons.”

A sixth-round 2013 draft pick, Bergman has appeared in 76 career regular-seasong ames with Calgary. He’s helped the Stampeders win two Grey Cups (2014, ’18) over that time.

“I’m glad we were able to get this contract done and I’m happy to be back,” said Bergman. “I’ve had a chance to play in a lot of Grey Cups as a member of the Stampeders and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to re-sign.

“I’m anxious to get back out there with my teammates for a chance to repeat as champions.”
