Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-sign veteran Canadian centre Mike Filer to deal
HAMILTON — Mike Filer is staying put.
The veteran Canadian centre re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Wednesday. The 28-year-old will return for his eighth season with the CFL club.
Filer, a six-foot-two, 290-pound native of Brantford, Ont., started 17-of-18 games last season with Hamilton. He anchored an offensive line that helped the Ticats average a CFL-best 405.6 offensive yards per game and 310.7 yards passing, the second-most in the league.
Filer has started 79-of-94 career CFL regular-season games and seven playoff contests. He was a fifth-round pick of the Calgary Stampeders in 2012 before signing with Hamilton as a free agent.
