Canada’s Dandjinou captures speedskating gold at World Cup stop in South Korea
SEOUL — William Dandjinou collected yet another gold for Canada Sunday at a short-track speedskating World Cup stop in South Korea.
The 23-year-old from Montreal crossed the finish line in the men’s 1,000-metre final in one minute 24.548 seconds, 0.193 seconds ahead of Jens van ‘t Wout of the Netherlands. South Korea’s Jang Sungwoo came in third.
Florence Brunelle of Trois-Rivières, Que., skated to silver in the women’s 500m race, finishing just behind American Kristen Santos-Griswold. Hanne Desmet of Belgium took bronze.
Dandjinou and Brunelle also teamed up with Kim Boutin of Sherbrooke, Que., and Steven Dubois of Lachenaie, Que., earlier on Sunday and captured bronze in the mixed relay.
