Jenna Ortega deleted Twitter over explicit AI images of herself as a teen

Jenna Ortega spoke out about her negative experiences with artificial intelligence and social media in a new podcast interview for the New York Times. “I hate AI,” she said. “Did I like being 14 and making a Twitter account because I was supposed to and seeing dirty edited content of me as a child? No. It’s terrifying. It’s corrupt. It’s wrong.” She also recalled that the first DM “that I ever opened myself when I was 12 was an unsolicited photo of a man’s genitals, and that was just the beginning of what was to come.” The influx of “disgusting” photos that made her feel “bad” and “uncomfortable” is why she ultimately deleted the account. “I couldn’t say anything without seeing something like that,” she explained. “So one day I just woke up, and I thought, Oh, I don’t need this anymore. So I dropped it.” She now tries to avoid spending time too much time on her phone by taking long walks. (THR)
