John Corbett regrets limiting himself to acting in his career and missing out on other creative roles in Hollywood. Despite his success in hit TV series like Sex and the City and Northern Exposure, as well as movies like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, he feels unfulfilled. “Have you ever sat in a fu-king waiting room of a doctor’s office for like an hour and been like, ‘What the fu-k?’” Corbett told the Fly On The Wall podcast. “For me, that’s what making a movie is like, because I’m not part of any creative process.”
He mentioned Emma Stone as an example of an actor who also produces and collaborates creatively on projects, pointing out that he never had that kind of experience. “I’ve made a lot of money. I live in a beautiful home. People come to me at every restaurant I go in. I’m a friend of the world,” Corbett said. “But as far as a fulfilling creative work life, I didn’t write one fu-king line. I didn’t write one joke that made people laugh. So it’s been unfulfilling on that level.”
