Tupac Murder Suspect Denied

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the Crips gang member charged with the murder of hip-hop legend, Tupac Shakur, was denied release to house arrest on Tuesday. The judge overseeing the case voiced concern that the down payment being used to secure Davis’ $750,000 bond was affiliated with a deal to tell his story about the 1996 drive-by-shooting. Davis has pleaded not guilty to the charge of first-degree murder in the case. Davis testified in person before Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny in Las Vegas, who questioned the legitimacy of the $112,500 that Davis was planning on using as a deposit for his bond.

Judge Kierny said the money can’t be a transactionactional payment where Davis ultimately benefits from discussing Shakur’s death. “I’m left with more questions than answers,” Judge Kierny said after the hearing. “I don’t find the defense has met their burden… to show that the bail is not connected to Mr. Davis ultimately talking about Mr. Shakur’s murder.
