Twitter Suspends Taylor Swift Searches
AI-generated pornographic images of Taylor Swift are continuing to make headlines, with The White House, Microsoft, SAG-AFTRA all issuing statements to condemn the problem and call for legal protections. The crude images, which show a nude Swift in a variety of sexual positions among a crowd of Kansas City Chiefs fans, started circulating on social media last week, with one earning 47 million views on Twitter alone before the account was suspended. Over the weekend, Twitter even cut off all searches for Swift’s name to help stop the spread. The images, apparently made with Microsoft’s generative-AI tool, Designer, were traced back to a Telegram group chat where members shared AI content. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told NBC News the company finds the images “alarming and terrible,” and will “move fast” to fight non-consensual sexually-explicit deepfake images.
