One arrested on Lac du Bois Road after major RCMP response to gun call

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a major response to the Lac du Bois Road area above Batchelor Heights resulted in one person taken into custody.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to the 2300-block of Lac du Bois Road at about 12:00 noon for the report of someone with a weapon.

In the course of the investigation, police located someone known to them. Evelyn says when Mounties told the man he was under arrest for a firearms-related offence, he became uncooperative. Officers did not know at the time if the suspect had any other weapons on him.

“In the interest of public and police safety, a number of officers attended and the public was requested to please avoid the area,” said Evelyn. “With the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, Southeast District Emergency Response Team, frontline officers, and other support units, the man was located and taken into custody without further incident.”
