The Modern Family Boutique

Nominated by Alexa McMillan – “I am nominating The Modern Family Boutique because they are such a wonderful store and one that is unique to Kamloops. The staff is so friendly and helpful. If you don’t find what you are looking for, the owner Jen is so helpful and looks to get it in for you or something similar. This store is a staple for keeping my kids dressed with the cutest baby clothes. What I love about them is they support local and Canadian brands and they give back to our community. Without this store, we would have to do a lot of our shopping online since we lost Toys ‘R Us last year!”

Here’s how Alexa believes they amplify the community: 

1. With each purchase, they will ask if you want to round it up for “Momas for Momas”. At the end of each year, they will take the total and donate the money to “Momas for Momas”- I love supporting other momas in need.  A little bit each time counts!
2. They get shirts in for every Child Matters and anti-bully days
3. They participate in the United Way Period Promise where they ask for period products (pads/ tampons). They ask for the community to bring in these products and they offer 10% off your store purchase.
4. They are always recognizing heroes of our community and offering discounts as a “thank you” (ie. health care heroes received 20% off store-wide).
5. I always see the store participating in giveaways with other local businesses.

Founded in 2009, The Modern Family Boutique (formerly Lizzie Bits Baby Co.) was born to fill two needed niches in the Kamloops, BC marketplace – children’s consignment clothing and cloth diapers. Over the past 10 years, The Modern Family Boutique has evolved to be so much more:  it is a place to gather and to support our fellow parents. It is also the best spot in Kamloops to find great quality name-brand children’s and maternity clothing, natural parenting items, baby carriers, and nursing products. In 2016, we moved out of Children’s Consignment and began focusing on locally sourced handmade clothing and accessories.

When Lizzie Bits Baby Co. became The Modern Family Boutique in 2019, we expanded our clothing and brands to accommodate children up to 10 years of age.

Our vision is to provide a space where new and experienced parents feel comfortable asking questions and learning about new products during this very special time in their lives. Our goal is to provide the best selection of quality brands for pregnancy, newborns and toddlers.
