Bella Hadid’s Showing Her Loyalty

Fenty is more Bella Hadid‘s speed than Victoria’s Secret. The supermodel got real at Vogue’s Fashion Festival in Paris Friday, when she opened up about her very different experience at Rihanna’s brand and the iconic lingerie brand.

She told the crowd: “Rihanna‘s amazing. For me, that was the first time on a runway that I felt really sexy. Because when I first did Fenty, I was doing other lingerie shows and I never felt powerful on a runway, like, in my underwear.”

Rihanna, who is involved in every aspect of Fenty, told Hadid to do what felt right on the runway. The 23-year-old has modeled in both her first Savage x Fenty show in 2018, and a second one this year.

“I like being another character,” Hadid said. “I think at this point I don’t necessarily love being myself sometimes. Sometimes on the runway you get either nervous or you forget how your legs move.”

She also touched on her struggles with mental health, admitting: “I feel guilty for being able to live this incredible life, have the opportunities that I do, but somehow still be depressed. It doesn’t made sense.”

Her darkest times, Hadid revealed, were when she first enjoyed success as a model: “I would cry every single morning, I would cry during my lunch breaks, I would cry before I slept. I was very emotionally unstable for a while when I was working 14-hour days for four months straight as an 18-year-old. I think I just wanted to breathe a little bit.”

Hadid famously strutted for Victoria’s Secret 2016-2018. The beleaguered brand cancelled its show this year after declining viewership of the broadcast show and a reshuffling of the brand’s strategy.

Hadid also subtly shared her feelings about Selena Gomez, some say. Gomez dated The Weeknd way back in 2017 after Hadid’s very public split from him, and Hadid and The Weeknd have been on and off again since then … ergo the former friends have hit a rough patch. While Hadid has “liked” at least one of Gomez’s posts in recent months on Instagram, it seems her beef has boiled over. Fans screenshot Gomez captioning a shot of Hadid, “stunning,” and the supermodel chose to delete the entire post.

Some speculate that Hadid may be standing with her good friend Hailey Baldwin, Gomez’s other ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber‘s wife, after the pop star released breakup songs that appear to be about how he moved on married so soon after their split.
