Sean Spicer eliminated from Dancing With The Stars

Nov 12, 2019 | 11:59 AM

Despite a presidential tweet that urged viewers to vote for him hours earlier, Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer was voted off of Season 28’s Dancing With the Stars last night. His exit came after weeks of low scores from judges, but lots of love from viewer voters.

“A great try by @seanspicer . We are all proud of you!” President Donald Trump tweeted several minutes after the latest DWTS episode ended. Earlier in the night, Trump had tweeted that viewers should “vote for Sean” and that “He is a great and very loyal guy who is working very hard.” After Spicer was kicked off the show, that tweet was deleted.

Last night, DWTS invited a couple of appropriate guest judges to score the dances on “Boy Band and Girl Group Night”: Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls and Joey Fatone of NSYNC. Fatone also happens to be a DWTS alum, finishing second in season four back in 2007.

In the first round of competitive dances, the contestants performed routines to music by girl groups including the Spice Girls, TLC, En Vogue and the Pointer Sisters. Then in the second round, they danced to songs by boy bands like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men.

At the end of the night, Sean Spicer and country star Lauren Alaina were in jeopardy. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said it’s never easy, but she’s saving Lauren. Bruno also saved Lauren.

Previously eliminated from the competition were Office alum Kate Flannery, Queer Eye star Karamo Brown, model Sailor Brinkley-Cook, The Supremes singer Mary Wilson and NBA star Lamar Odom. Pro football player Ray Lewis dropped out earlier in the season due to an injury.

Still in the running for the coveted mirror-ball trophy are The Bachelorette alum Hannah Brown; Lauren Alaina; actor James Van Der Beek; singer Ally Brooke; and actor Kel Mitchell.

Meanwhile, Dancing with the Stars pro Lindsay Arnold is mourning the death of her mother-in-law. On Monday, Arnold posted a heartfelt tribute to Instagram in honor of her husband Samuel Lightner Cusick’s mother Jennifer, who was laid to rest following her “unexpected” death more than a week ago.

On last week’s episode of DWTS, Spicer announced that he would be dancing with Jenna Johnson because his pro dancing partner Arnold had to miss the show in the wake of her mother-in-law’s death.

Judges’ Leaderboard

  1. Ally Brooke – 40 + 40 = 80
  2. Kel Mitchell – 34 + 40 = 74
  3. James Van Der Beek – 36 + 36 = 72
  4. Hannah Brown – 39 + 39 = 71
  5. Lauren Alaina – 34 + 36 = 70
  6. Sean Spicer – 26 + 24 = 50 (ELIMINATED)
