Kristen Bell Shares in Women’s Health

Oct 10, 2019 | 6:06 AM

Kristen Bell covers the November issue of Women’s Health, and inside she shares her love of carbs, and her need for a bagel-break mid-morning. The 39-year-old says: “I have to eat carbs because I have to memorize 11 pages of dialogue, and I can’t do that eating spinach and chicken.”

Bell does restrict her diet somewhat, going mostly vegetarian, but leaving room for indulgence: “If they make au gratin potatoes, I’m going to have some, but I am mindful of the portion I take.”

ON ALCOHOL

For 10 years, she avoided alcohol (her husband Dax Shepard has been sober since 2004), but now she occasionally indulges … but feels like she has “the flu the next day.”

ON EXERCISE

Bell shared that when she needs a mental and physical pick-me-up, she turns to exercise: “It should be the first stop for anyone who experiences depression or anxiety because it encourages serotonin and endorphins. I feel so much more centered, patient, capable. It sets the next 48 hours for me.”

FAN BACKLASH

Meanwhile, Bell and Reese Witherspoon are getting slammed by fans for supporting Ellen DeGeneres for hanging out with George W. Bush. (The pair were photographed talking and laughing at a football game over the weekend, and she was immediately dragged for hanging with someone who started what many see as an illegitimate war in Iraq).

Bell and Witherspoons championed DeGeneres for “being kind to everyone” not just people who agree with their politics.

Fans lashed out. One wrote: “It is a privilege to be able to set aside the real life harm and oppression because it does not affect you,” while another tweeted: “there are thousands of people in the middle east who don’t get to be friends with people with ‘different views’ because they’re dead thanks to him.”
