Taylor Swift performed live on Good Morning America Thursday, giving fans a high-energy concert that took place at Central Park in New York City.

The stage was filled with pink and white flowers. Swift kicked things off by performing “You Need To Calm Down” from her new album Lover. Swift then launched into “ME!,” also from Lover, followed by an older song, “Shake It Off” from her 2014 album 1989.

Swift sat down with GMA’s Robin Roberts before the concert to discuss Lover and her plans to re-record her older albums in 2020 so that she can own the recordings. She said:

“I think that artists deserve to own their own work. I just feel very passionately about that.”

Roberts also mentioned that Lover is already close to reaching one million copies sold through pre-sales. Lover arrives today and the music video for the album’s title song dropped yesterday. Some of the clothing featured in Taylor’s video is from her new collaboration with Stella McCartney.

In a YouTube live stream right before the video premiered, Taylor revealed that the inspiration behind the video’s concept was a lyric from her song “You Are in Love,” from her 1989 album. On that song, she sings, “And so it goes, you two are dancing in a snow globe ’round and ’round.”

The clip features Taylor and her love interest, played by one of her tour dancers, Christian Owens, acting out different scenes in color-coordinated rooms of what looks like a dollhouse. Like the lyric, the entire video takes place within a snow globe.

Also during the live feed, called “Lover’s Lounge,” Taylor Swift sat on a couch surrounded by her band while performing her song “The Archer” live for the first time.

Meanwhile, Taylor also announced that she will be opening the 2019 MTV VMAs next Monday live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This is the first time Taylor will be returning to the VMAs stage since her 2015 performance of “Bad Blood.” Taylor Swift is up for 10 awards – including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Video For Good for her songs “ME!” and “You Need to Calm Down.”

Taylor has teamed with Apple for “Music Lab: Remix Taylor Swift,” a new initiative that will teach fans how to remix “You Need to Calm Down” using the iPhone app GarageBand. Starting today, fans can sign up to attend a Music Lab session at select Apple Stores worldwide, where they will “receive firsthand encouragement and inspiration” from Taylor via video and then learn how to deconstruct and create their own unique versions of the song.
