AVA MAX DROPS NEW SINGLE, ‘TORN’: Ava Max has dropped her brand new single called “Torn,” which serves as the official follow-up to “So Am I.” “Love and hate are two of the strongest emotions we feel in relationships,” Ava said in statement about the song. “‘Torn’ explores the struggle between them that everyone can relate to. I’m so excited to share my new single with the world! Keep your eyes peeled for the video coming soon…” “Torn” follows Ava’s most recent releases “Freaking Me Out” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears,” which are both set to be featured on her upcoming debut studio album. Ava Max, who recently was named as an MTV Video Music Awards nominee for Best New Artist, is set to attend her first-ever VMAs where she’ll perform live during the red carpet pre-show.
JANET JACKSON TO PLAY SPECIAL HAWAII SHOWS FOR ‘RHYTHM NATION’ 30TH ANNIVERSARY: The 30th anniversary of Janet Jackson’s album Rhythm Nation is coming up next month and she will be celebrating the special occasion with two shows in Hawaii. The concerts will take place on November 20th and November 21st at the Blaidell Center in Honolulu. The shows will mark Janet’s first time in the Aloha State since 2015. Tickets go on sale to Hawaii residents on Friday and to the general public on Saturday. Janet also will be performing a special show in San Francisco in September. She just wrapped her Las Vegas residency this past weekend. Rhythm Nation was released on September 19, 1989.
BILLIE EILISH DETHRONES LIL NAS X FROM BILLBOARD HOT 100’S TOP SPOT: Billie Eilish has earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has dethroned Lil Nas X after his 19-week reign on the top of the chart. The 17-year-old singer’s song “Bad Guy” is No. 1 after spending the past nine weeks at No. 2. Billie, who was born in December 2001, is the first artist to be born in the 2000s and earn a No. 1 single on the Hot 100. Lil Nas X was the previous most-recent born artist to go No. 1 – he was born in April 1999. Lil Nas X’s song “Old Town Road” is now at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s collaboration “Senorita” has moved up to No. 2.
LOGIC REVEALS HE’S EXPECTING FIRST CHILD IN NEW SONG ‘NO PRESSURE’: Logic revealed that he’s going to be a dad in a freestyle rap titled “No Pressure,” where he shared his negative opinions of the music industry. Logic makes the revelation at the very end of the video. “I’m having a little baby! Surprise, it’s a little baby boy, f**k TMZ they can’t get the scoop on that s**t,” Logic said. While Logic didn’t say who he is expecting the child with, he is engaged to designer Brittney Noell. The couple recently filed for a marriage license. Logic was previously married to singer Jessica Andrea. The two finalized their divorce in September of last year.
AVA MAX, CNCO AND MEGAN THEE STALLION TO PERFORM 2019 MTV VMA PRE-SHOW: MTV announced the line-up for pre-show performances at the 2019 Video Music Awards on Monday via Twitter. Ava Max, CMCO and Megan the Stallion will have a national platform to perform for worldwide viewers who tune in before the awards show begins. Sebastian Maniscalcohosts the 2019 VMAs, which will air on August 26th. Zara Larsson will be a special correspondent during the pre-show. Also during the pre-show, the winner of the 2019 Push Artist of the Year will be presented on the carpet by 2018’s winner, Hayley Kiyoko.
