Laurentian star named top player in U Sports for second consecutive year
HALIFAX — Laurentian Voyageurs guard Kadre Gray has been named the national university men’s basketball player of the year for the second season in a row.
The third-year player from Toronto picked up the Mike Moser Memorial Trophy after leading the country in scoring (31 points per game). Gray also was third in the country in assists, while shooting 48.8 per cent from the field.
“Kadre’s work ethic continues to shine bright. Never satisfied with his skill set, he is always looking for ways to improve and refine all aspects of the game,” Laurentian head coach Shawn Swords said in a statement.
“It’s an amazing accomplishment to do it once and now, to be named MVP twice, is truly a testament to his willingness to learn and improve.”
