Canadians Alexis Davis and Randa (Quiet Storm) Markos added to UFC Nashville card

TORONTO — Canadian Alexis Davis, ranked fifth among UFC flyweight contenders, will face No. 11 Jennifer Maia of Brazil on March 23 in Nashville.

The televised Bridgestone Arena card will also showcase Canadian Randa (Quiet Storm) Markos, ranked 14th among strawweights, against American Angela (Overkill) Hill.

Davis and Markos are currently the highest-ranked Canadian women in the UFC.

The main event features fourth-ranked welterweight Stephen (Wonder Boy) Thompson (14-3-1) against former lightweight title-holder Anthony (Showtime) Pettis (21-8-0), moving up to 170 pounds.

Davis (19-8-0) is coming off a submission loss to third-ranked Katlyn Chookagian in July. The 34-year-old from Niagara Falls, Ont., who trains out of San Jose, had won her two previous fights.

Davis is 6-3-0 in the UFC, a record that includes a loss to then-bantamweight champion (Rowdy) Ronda Rousey in 2014.

Maia (15-5-1) has fought just once in the UFC, losing a decision to Liz Carmouche in July.

Markos (8-7-1) most recently fought Marina Rodriguez to a draw in September. The 33-year-old from Windsor, Ont., is 4-5-1 in the UFC.

The 34-year-old Hill (8-5-0) lost a split decision to Cortney Casey last time out. She is 3-5-0 in the UFC.

The Nashville card also features bouts between fourth-ranked heavyweight Curtis (Razor) Blaydes (10-1-0 with one no-contest) and No. 10 Justin (Big Pretty) Willis (6-1-0), flyweights Mayvee Barber (6-0-0) and J.J. Aldrich (7-2-0) and No. 1 flyweight contender Jussier Formiga (22-50-0) and No. 4 Deiveson (Deus da Gama) Figueiredo (15-0-0).
