OBIHIRO, Japan — Danielle Serdachny scored 44 seconds into overtime on Saturday to lift Canada to a 4-3 win over Russia and into the gold medal final at the IIHF women’s under-18 world championship.

Canada will play the United States in the championship match on Sunday.

Alexie Guay had a goal and an assist for the Canadians and Julia Gosling and Nicole Kelly also scored.

“I think we all felt pretty nervous but we all had trust in each other that we could do it and we could win,” Serdachny said. “Everyone was pretty excited (to get the win).”
