Junior Blazers guarantee spot in one of medal games on Sunday
KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Junior Blazers shut out the Saskatchewan champions, and with that they know they will be at least playing in one of the medal games on Sunday.
The Blazers (2-2) defeated the West Central Wheat Kings (0-3) in their final round-robin game on Saturday morning by a 2-0 score.
Carter Streek continued his hot streak for Kamloops, notching his fifth goal of the tournament. Streek also added an assist on Owen Haight’s second goal. Each Streek and Haight had a goal and an assist in the win.
The Junior Blazers have to hope that Seafair (2-1) lose to West Central in the afternoon, couple with a regulation win for Winnipeg (2-1) or Airdrie (2-1), who also play in their final round-robin games. The tiebreaker is goals for and goals against in a three-way tie.
