VANCOUVER — The head of the national inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women says the commission accepts full responsibility for delays and poor communication but more time and money are needed to finish the “tremendous work” that has already been done.

Metal thieves suspected by police after 175 cemetery vases taken in B.C.

SURREY, B.C. — Police are looking for suspects who stole about 175 ornamental flower vases from a cemetery in Surrey, B.C.

The RCMP say a mother who was visiting her son’s grave on April 26 noticed the bronze vase at his gravesite had been stolen.

Three B.C. dairy workers who pleaded guilty to animal cruelty get jail time

CHILLIWACK, B.C. — British Columbia’s provincial court says three dairy farm workers from the Fraser Valley have been sentenced to jail for causing distress to an animal after an undercover video showed several employees abusing milk cows.

Police recover body believed to be missing teen, now treating case as homicide

NANAIMO, B.C. — Police say they have recovered what they believe is the body of a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing almost two months ago in Nanaimo, B.C.

Police issued a missing person report for Makayla Chang on March 22.
