Accused drug dealers leave B.C. courts free men due to shortage of sheriffs

VICTORIA — A shortage of courthouse sheriffs has resulted in two accused drug dealers being freed without facing justice, sparking an uproar in British Columbia’s legislature with the Opposition New Democrats accusing the government of cost-cutting during a deadly overdose crisis.

Police say incident involving a male and students Wednesday is not suspicious

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say an incident yesterday afternoon near  Arthur Stevenson Elementary school in Westsyde has been confirmed as NOT suspicious.

Police reported yesterday that two elementary-aged girls had been approached by a man who spoke to them and then reached towards them.

B.C. coroner investigating death of three-year-old girl at hospital

VANCOUVER — The BC Coroners Service says it is investigating the death of a three-year-old girl at Abbotsford Regional Hospital earlier this month.

The service says Nimrat Kaur Gill’s family took her to the hospital emergency ward on Feb. 6 and she was discharged home the same day.
