City of Vernon proposes 6.38% tax increase, including six more officers

VERNON, B.C. — City of Vernon administration is recommending a 6.38 percent tax increase for 2018.

Chief administrative officer Will Pearce outlined the proposed budget  this morning, saying it focuses on public safety.

Kamloops council begins tax discussion at 1.93% increase, down from previous years

KAMLOOPS — Homeowners in Kamloops may be able to anticipate a lower tax increase in 2018 than in previous years. 

During Tuesday's city public budget meeting, Finance Director Kathy Humphrey announced a preliminary increase of 1.93 per cent, down from a 2.4 per cent jump in 2017.

City Councillor wants to see higher parking fees on Victoria Street

KAMLOOPS — City Councillor Denis Walsh would like to see parking prices increased along Victoria Street.

While Walsh doesn't believe the downtown has a parking shortage issue, he says increasing the fee would free up more spots along the downtown's busiest street.

Kamloops property tax rate 'doing well' compared to other cities

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops residential property tax rates are doing well compared to other municipalities.

Those are the words from the city's finance department in its 2018 provisional budget that's set to be unveiled at city hall Tuesday.
