It was a project that was intended to revitalize downtown Kamloops, stimulate the local arts community, and provide economic growth to the City. But over the weekend, Kamloops residents shot down the idea of building a performing arts centre at the former location of the Kamloops Daily News.

Kamloops residents have had their say, rejecting the Performing Arts Centre and Parkade Complex. 31.97% of eligible voters cast a ballot in the referendum. Of those 53.74% voted against the centre and 46.26% voted for it.
