JIM CARREY SPARKS CONTROVERSY WITH TRUMP PORTRAIT: A day after getting blasted for his purported portrait of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Jim Carrey shared an equally unflattering portrait of what most assume is President Donald Trump. (Carrey and his reps will not confirm who he is portraying, but observers widely concur that the likenesses, while highly unflattering, are apparent). “If you liked my last cartoon you may also enjoy…THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST WING AND PUTIN’S FLYING MONKEYS,” he captioned the portrait of Trump as the Wicked Witch from The Wizard of Oz. Critics were quick to speak out. Wrote one, “And this is one more reason that I’m done with Hollywood. It’s ok to be mean and hurtful as long as it’s to someone you disagree with, right? Btw, this is a classic example of bullying. But again, it’s ok as long as it’s someone you disagree with, right?”
CHARLIE SHEEN SETTLES WITH NATIONAL ENQUIRER: Charlie Sheen sued the National Enquirer last year over a story it published alleging that he raped Corey Haim on the set of Lucas when he was 13. Sheen and the late Haim’s mother denied the story. TMZ reports that Sheen’s lawyers have filed papers to dismiss the lawsuit, which they also say probably means they settled the case. Sources tell the gossip site no money changed hands.
NICK AND VANESSA LACHEY TO HOST MISS USA: Double trouble! Nick and Vanessa Lachey are teaming up to co-host the Miss USA pageant on May 21st. Actress and former Dancing With the Stars contestant Vanessa has plenty of experience on the pageant circuit, having nabbed the tiara herself as Miss Teen USA in 1998. She also worked as backstage correspondent for Miss USA in 2001 and co-hosted Miss Universe in 2007. The ceremony will take place in Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana and will air May 21st at 8 p.m. on Fox.
NEW MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY TELL-ALL SPILLS DEETS ON ROYAL ROMANCE: In a new excerpt from the upcoming book Harry: Life, Loss and Love by Katie Nicholl, the secrets of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s budding romance were revealed for the first time. The excerpt was published in Vanity Fair and shows the great lengths they went to to avoid the paparazzi when their relationship became public knowledge. “A story was leaked that Harry had canceled a flight to Toronto to try and make it look like he was in the U.K., but photographers and reporters descended on Meghan’s home regardless,” Nicholl writes. The lovebirds decamped to her pal Jessica and Ben Mulroney‘s luxe home (spread over 3 floors with 14-foot-high ceilings in Toronto). According to the book: “When Harry came to visit the family he brought a bag filled with gifts. He won the kids over in an instant. He was brilliant with them and I think what swung it for Meghan was how good Harry was with them,” says a source. “I actually think that might have been the moment Meghan really fell for Harry. He got to know the Mulroneys quite well, and they liked Harry from the beginning.”
