Oprah Will Run For President If This Happens

Let’s get real: Oprah Winfrey really only answers to one entity these days: God. The talk show host sat down with People magazine for this week’s cover story, and of course her much buzzed-about potential run for President in 2020 came up.

While Oprah has been a long-shot contender for president in the public’s mind for years, after her rousing 2018 Golden Globes speech while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award, many believed/hoped she was planning a run. And who can blame them? During the speech, celebrities were seen on their feet clapping and crying as she promised that “a new day is dawning.”

• When Oprah saw the response, she tells People that she “went into prayer.”
• ” ‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that.”
• She adds that her BFF Gayle King begged her to take the run seriously. “I had people-wealthy, billionaires-calling me up and saying, ‘I can get you a billion dollars. I can run your campaign,’”she reveals. “That many people saying something made me think, ‘Am I at least supposed to look at the question?’ “
• But as of now, she maintains: no dice.
